Two women killed as truck hits motorcycle in Sirajganj
Two female motorcycle passengers died after a truck slammed into the two-wheeler in Sirajganj's Raiganj upazila.
The motorcycle driver was also injured in the incident.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Khatun Jim, 18, daughter of Johir Rayhan and Khadiza Begum, 25, wife of Jakir Hossain.
Both were from Bogura's Dhunot upazila, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting Officer-in-Charge of Raiganj Police Station Asif Md Siddikul Islam.
The incident took place on the Dhaka-Bogura highway near the Chandaikona bus stand area around 10:00pm. The motorcycle driver was crossing the road with the two passengers when a speeding Dhaka-bound truck hit the two-wheeler, the OC said,
"The two pillion passengers of the motorcycle died on the spot," the OC said, adding that the injured bike driver Md Sayem was admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura.
Police seized the truck but the driver managed to flee, the OC said.
A case was filed with Hatikumrul Highway Police Station in this regard.
