Two killed in road accidents
Two people were killed and five injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
In Mymensingh, a college girl was killed and four others sustained injuries when a bus hit an auto-rickshaw in Nandail upazila.
The accident happened around 1:00pm on Mymensingh-Trishal road in Betagoir area.
Sumi Akter Khoki, 18, daughter of Khokon Mia, and others were travelling in the auto-rickshaw, said Nandail Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Rasheduzzaman.
Sumi, a class XI student at a Gafargoan college, died on the spot, said the OC.
The injured were admitted to various hospitals.
Soon after the incident, locals torched the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, the OC added.
In Dinajpur, Kafi Chowdhury, 65, lost both his legs after a goods-laden truck ran him over in Phulbari upazila while he was crossing the road.
The truck driver -- Jewel Rana, 27 -- was detained following the accident.
In Manikganj, a man was killed as a microbus hit his motorcycle at Kholapara in Singair upazila.
Shahidul Islam, 35, from Baraibhikora village in Sadar upazila, died on the spot.
