Two children among four killed in road crashes

Four including two children were killed in road accidents in Jashore and Sirajganj yesterday.

In Jashore, two children were crushed under the wheels of a tractor trolley in Sadar upazila.

The deceased are Jahia Khatun (4) and her cousin Abu Huraira (2).

Jahia's father Kamal Hossain was going out with the tractor in the morning.

When the vehicle started moving, he did not notice that the children were behind the vehicle, said sub-inspector Nazmul of Sadar Police Station.

The bodies were sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy, he added.

He also said no complaints were lodged in this connection yet.

Meanwhile in Sirajganj, two people were killed and five injured in separate accidents.

The deceased were identified as Omar Faruk (32), and Abdul Mazid (52).

Faruk died as a speeding bus collided head-on with a truck in Bogura-Nagarbari highway, said OC Md Lutfor Rahman of Hatikumrul highway police station.

The injured were taken to a local hospital, the police official added. 

Meanwhile, day labourer Mazid was hit by a bus while crossing a road in the Char Mirpur area in Sirajganj, said police.

No case was filed over the incident.

Mazid's family members took the body from the spot, said Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station.
