Train hits pickup van and derails, Dhaka-Ctg rail communication resumes after 7 hours
Rail communication on Dhaka-Chattogram route was suspended for seven hours when a train derailed after hitting a pickup van in Cumilla.
Train service on the route resumed around 9:00am today, our local correspondent reports.
Chattogram-bound Mohanagar Express hit the van around 2:00am at Paduar Bazar rail-crossing point and following this, a compartment of the train derailed, Md Mursalin Rahman, assistant executive engineer of Cumilla's railway department, said.
Since then, movement of trains from Dhaka to Chattogram, Chandpur and Noakhali was suspended, the official said.
