Three die in road accidents in Sirajganj
At least three people died and five more were injured in separate road accidents last night in Sirajganj.
The deceased were identified as Monwara Begum (45), her son Nayan Hossain (20), and Anwarul Islam (46), reports our Pabna correspondent.
Quoting locals and eyewitnesses, Sub-inspector (SI) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Zone Police Station, Md Abdul Bari, said that a speeding truck hit a three-wheeler van at Nolka bridge area on Bangabandhu Bridge West Zone Highway around 9pm.
Nayan, a passenger of the three-wheeler, died on the spot, and three others were injured, the SI said.
The injured were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital by locals, where Nayan's mother succumbed to her injuries, the SI said, adding that the truck driver along with his truck fled the scene.
Meanwhile, Md Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station, quoting eyewitnesses said that a bus hit a tractor at Khalkula Bazar area of Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway around 8:30pm, leaving the tractor's driver Anwarul Islam dead on the spot. Three more were injured in the accident.
Police were able to seize the bus but its driver managed to flee, the OC said.
