Rony won't face problems performing on stage: Dr Samanta Lal
Comedian Abu Hena Rony, who has been undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with major burn injuries, is doing well and will be released soon from the hospital.
"We will release Rony soon," said Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen told The Daily Star last night.
Rony suffered major burn injuries during a gas balloon explosion at the anniversary programme of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police On September 16.
Rony's assistant Sadiq Al Hasan said "Rony is now able to eat food normally. He is in a relaxed mood. He is joking with doctors and nurses. After returning home, he is planning to perform on stage again after a break for some days."
When asked if Rony would be able to return to the stage, Dr Sen said "There will be no obstacle in his return to the stage. Whatever burn he has suffered, I hope it will not affect his performance."
The doctor also said to understand his physical condition, he wanted to know from Rony if he is able to walk. "Ronny got out of the cabin and ran into the corridor.'
On September 16, Rony and four other policemen were severely burnt during a gas balloon explosion at the fourth anniversary celebration of Gazipur Metropolitan Police.
The injured were first taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. Rony and Zillur Rahman, a policeman, were later sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery as the severity of their burn injuries were much higher.
On September 17, Dr Sen had informed The Daily Star that Rony had suffered 25 percent burns, including two hands, ears and parts of his mouth, while policeman Zillur Rahman suffered 19 percent burns. They both were kept at the HDU after their wounds had been dressed.
Later, Rony was taken to the cabin from the HDU as he was out of danger.
