Rickshaw puller killed as iron sheet falls on him during CTG city development work
A pedestrian has died after an iron sheet fell on him during government's construction work in Chattogram city last night.
The deceased was identified as rickshaw puller Mujibur Rahman (50), hailing from Banskhali upazila of Chattogram, our Chattogram staff correspondent reports quoting Mainur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandgaon Police Station.
The incident took place when Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) was installing iron sheets using excavators to build a resistant wall around Domkhali canal in Pathaniagoda of Chandgaon under a project to eliminate waterlogging in the city, said CDA sources.
One of the iron sheets fell on Mujibur Rahman. He was rushed to a private hospital in Panchlaish area where he died around 11:30pm, said the OC.
Another injured in the incident, Nur Mohammad, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital, the police official added.
No case was filed in this regard yet, the OC added. Further details regarding the incident could not be known immediately.
