Rail links with Sylhet restored after 8 hrs
Train communication of Sylhet with other parts of the country was restored after eight hours of suspension following an oil tanker derailment in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria today (July 12, 2022).
The rail communication was restored around 6:40pm on completion of the rescue operation, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent quoting Akhaura Railway Junction Loco shed in-charge Md Monir Uddin.
Monir Uddin said the Sylhet-bound oil tanker train from Akhaura veered off the tracks in Fatehpur area near Mukundpur Railway Station around 10:30am, snapping the rail link of Sylhet with other parts of the country.
Later, a rescue train from Akhaura junction reached the spot around 2:30pm and salvaged the derailed bogies after four hours of efforts.
Saiful Islam, assistant station master of Mukundpur station, said the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train from Chattogram remained stranded at Akhaura railway junction station due to the derailment.
