Pedestrian dies after being hit by bus near Bijoy Sarani

A man died after a bus hit him when he was crossing a road near Bijoy Sarani in Dhaka this morning.

A bus of Bikash Paribahan hit Bashir Ahmed (41), an accounts officer of a furniture showroom, around 9:30am, leaving him critically injured.

After being treated at two government hospitals, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he breathed his last around 2:00pm, said the deceased's uncle Abu Zafar.

Hailed from Magura Sadar Upazila, Bashir used to live the capital's Kafrul area with his family.

Police seized the bus but its driver managed to flee the scene, Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Police Station, said. 

The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
