One madrasa student dies, 6 hospitalised ‘after eating biscuits’
A 13-year-old madrasa student died and six other students were hospitalised "after eating biscuits" in Sharsha upazila of Jashore yesterday (July 29, 2022).
The deceased, Mahin Hossain, son of Surat Ali of Nande Dumuria Village of Jhikorgacha upazila, was a class six student at Narayanpur Ashraful Madaris Qawmi Madrasa, reports our Benapole correspondent quoting Maulana Anarul Islam, a teacher of the madrasa.
Siddiqur Rahman, emergency doctor of Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, said seven students of a madrasa were brought to the hospital in the afternoon.
"Of them, one was declared dead while another student was referred to Jashore General Hospital as his condition deteriorated," he added.
Anarul Islam, the teacher, said the students suddenly fell ill in the afternoon after eating biscuits sent by a student's brother-in-law. They were admitted to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Mahin dead, he said.
Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station, said he heard about the incident.
Police are investigating the matter, the OC said, adding that the body of the deceased was sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy.
