One killed, five hurt in road crash in Jashore

A man was killed while five others were injured in a road accident in Jashore's Manirampur upazila today.

Bidhan Chandra Roy, 54, a lawyer of Bagerhat's Kachua upazila, died on the spot after the microbus he was travelling in collided head-on with a truck in Shyamkur Fakir street junction in the afternoon, said Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station.

The driver of the microbus and its four other passengers were seriously injured in the accident. They are currently being treated at the Monirampur Upazila Health Complex.

The truck's driver fled the spot after the incident, the OC added.

Police seized both vehicles. A case was filed in this regard.
