Narayanganj launch capsize: 3 more bodies recovered, death toll reaches 11
Death toll from Narayanganj launch capsize in Shitalakkhya river reached at 11 as three more bodies were recovered today.
The deceased were identified as Arohi Barman Rajbongshi (3), Abdullah Al Jaber (30), and Muslem Uddin Hatem (55), our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of local Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Fire Service members recovered the body of Jaber near the 3rd Shitalakkhya bridge in Koylaghat area of Narayanganj Sadar upazila around 8:05am, said Abdullah Al Arefin.
Meanwhile, locals recovered the body of Arohi Barman around 10:30am and handed over to police, according to the fire service.
In the afternoon, fire Service members recovered the floating body of Muslem Uddin Hatem from Shitalakkhya in Muktapur area of Munshiganj, said the fire brigade official.
"We'll continue the rescue operation until evening as one person is still missing," added the fire service official.
ML Afsar Uddin capsized in the river after it was hit by a large cargo vessel, the MV Rupshi-9, in Char Syedpur area of Sadar upazila on Sunday.
