Narayanganj launch capsize: Two more bodies recovered, death toll now 8

Death toll from Narayanganj launch capsize has raised to eight as two more bodies were recovered today.

Coastguards recovered the body of a man from the estuary of the Shitalakkhya river around 10:30am, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of local Fire Service and Civil Defence.

The identity of the victim, aged around 27-28, has not been ascertained yet.

Fire Service duty office Rozina Akhter told The Daily Star that the body of a woman, aged 50 years, was recovered around 1:15pm.

Four passengers of the launch still remain missing, according to the fire service list.

ML Afsar Uddin capsized in the river after it was hit by a large cargo vessel, the MV Rupshi-9, in Char Syedpur area in Narayanganj Sadar upazila yesterday.
