Motorcyclist dies after hitting tree in Patuakhali

A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident at Dashmina upazila in Patuakhali last night.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Babu, 30, a security guard of Mercantile Bank Patuakhali branch, reports our local correspondent quoting Dashmina Police Station Officer-in-Charge Anwar Hossain Talukdar.

The accident took place in Gachani area of Patuakhali-Dashmina road around 7:00pm, the OC said.

Mehedi was seriously injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a tree on his way to his house in Gachani area under Dashmina's Banshbaria union.

Locals rescued him and admitted him in Dashmina Upazila Health Complex, where he was given first aid.

The doctors later sent Mehedi to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said the OC, adding that Mehedi died on the way to Barishal.
