Meghna Trawler Capsize: 3 more bodies found, 2 still missing
Three more bodies were recovered 48 hours after a trawler capsized in the Meghna near Gazaria ghat of Munshiganj.
The victims were identified as Sabbir Hossain, 40, Jannatul Marwa Sabiha, 8, daughter of Kazi Burhanuddin, and Mawa, 6, daughter of Sumana Akter, who was also killed in the tragedy. All were residents of Munshiganj's Gazaria.
Jannatul and Sabbir's bodies were recovered in the morning from the river near Shatnal of Chadpur. Mawa's body was recovered in the afternoon off the Char Kishoreganj ferry ghat.
With yesterday's recoveries, two children still remained missing, said police.
The trawler with 11 passengers, which was touring Meghna, capsized after being hit by a Narayanganj-bound bulk carrier.
Md Ezaz Ahmed, in-charge of Gazaria River Police Outpost, said, "Now two children remain missing. Navy searched for the sunken trawler using sonar but found nothing yet."
The body of Sumana Akter, 28, mother of Mawa, was found near the bank of Meghna early Saturday morning. Now, her other daughter Safa, 4, and Sabbir's son Emad Hossain, 2, remain missing.
Five were rescued immediately after the trawler capsized on Friday.
