Man killed in explosion in Bandarban

A man was killed and another person was injured in an explosion that took place in Bandarban's Ruma upazila yesterday, said police.

The deceased was identified as Md Rashed, 18, son of Nurul Haque from Chattogram's Banshkhali upazila.

The injured is Dulal, 35, son of Mohib Ullah from the same area.

The incident occurred around noon in the Bangkun Tripura area under the upazila's Ramakreprangsa union, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ruma Police Station.

The two were construction workers building a new road from Thanchi to Boro Modok, the police official said.

Abdullah Al Noman, resident medical officer of Thanchi Upazila Health Complex, said BGB members brought in the two around 12:30pm.

"Rashed was declared dead on arrival and Dulal was sent to Bandarban Sadar Hospital for better treatment," he added.
