Man killed as car hits bicycle in Dhaka’s Bashundhara

A man was killed yesterday after a private car crashed into his bicycle in Bashundhara Residential Area of Dhaka.

The deceased was identified as Hayatullah alias Hayatul (30), son of Nurul Islam of Taraikandi village in Dhobaura upazila in Mymensingh.

Hayatul, a chauffeur by profession, used to live in Mridhabari area of the capital's Kuril with his wife and child, said Ali Hossain, a cousin of the deceased.

Ali Hossain said a private car hit the bicycle on a road of Bashundhara Residential Area in the afternoon while he was returning to his house in Kuril from his employer's house, leaving him injured. Later, he was taken to hospital.

Inspector Bachchu Miah, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said the relatives of the victim brought him to the DMCH this evening. He died around 6:30pm while undergoing treatment in the emergency unit.

The body was taken to the DMCH morgue for autopsy, added the police official.
