Man killed after lorry hits him in Jhenaidah

A man was killed today after a lorry hit him while he was jaywalking on Jhenaidah-Jashore Highway in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah.

The victim was identified as Roni Islam, 32, reports our local correspondent quoting Abdur Rahim Molla, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station.

The accident took place around 12:30pm in front of Moabrakganj Sugar Mill.

While talking on the phone, Roni was crossing the highway when the lorry hit him and left him seriously injured, police said quoting eyewitnesses.

Fire service personnel took him to Kaliganj Health Complex where doctors declared him dead, the OC said.

Police seized the 15-wheel vehicle but the driver and his helper managed to flee, the OC added.
