Man killed after being hit by train in Dhaka's Malibagh

A man was killed after being hit by a goods-laden train in Dhaka's Malibagh area early today.

The deceased was identified as Shapjal Mia (45), a day labourer.

He used to live with his wife at a slum in Moghbazar's wireless gate area.

The incident happened when the deceased was relieving himself along the rail track around 4:30am. A goods-laden train hit him, leaving him critically injured, said Assistant Sub-inspector Anwar Hossain of Dhaka Railway Police Station.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctor declared him dead around 7:30am, he said.

The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
