Man dead after conductor allegedly pushed him off bus in Dhaka’s Wari
A man died after he was allegedly pushed off a moving bus by the bus conductor during an argument over fare in Dhaka's Wari area this morning.
The deceased was identified as Irfan (48), employee of an electrical appliance shop in Nawabpur.
He was heading to work, on a bus of Green Bangla Paribahan, from his home in Demra's Sarulia area when the incident took place around 11:00am.
He fell on the road after the conductor pushed him off the running bus near Joy Kali Temple following an altercation, Adbul Quader, a coworker, said quoting witnesses.
With critical injuries, Irfan was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead at 12:45pm, he said.
Sub-inspector Arafat Hossain of Wari Police Station said they came to know that conductor Mozammel pushed the man off the bus following altercation over bus fare.
Locals apprehended Mozammel immediately but he managed to flee later, he said.
Police are investigating the incident, he added.
The body was sent to DMCH morgue for autopsy. Hearing the news, his family members and relatives rushed there.
