Journalist Habib dead after bike hit footpath in Dhaka's Hatirjheel
Habibur Rahman, a senior reporter of daily Shomoyer Alo, died after an accident in Dhaka's Hatirjheel area early today.
He sustained critical injuries after his motorcycle hit a footpath near Begunbari area around 2:30am, said Sub-inspector Enamul Haque, duty officer of Hatirjheel Police Station.
Pedestrians took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he told The Daily Star.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the motorcycle.
The body was being kept at hospital morgue for autopsy, Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said.
Habib was a former organising secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity. Hailing from Cumilla, he was father of a child.
