Gas cylinder blast: 3 more fishermen die at CMCH
Three more fishermen, who suffered burns in a gas cylinder explosion on a fishing trawler in Cox's Bazar on Friday, died of their wounds at Chittagong Medical College Hospital today.
The deceased are Mohammad Shaheen, 35, Mohammad Rahim, 30, and Mohammad Arman, 20.
With this, the death toll from the incident rose to five, reports our local correspondent.
Dr S Khaled, assistant professor at the hospital's Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, said, "The three patients who died today had suffered 50 to 75 percent burns on their bodies. Their respiratory tracts were burnt too."
Around 10:00am Friday, the gas cylinder exploded on a fishing trawler at ghat-6 of the Banskhali river in Cox's Bazar, leaving 12 fishermen injured.
One of them died at the CMCH on Sunday noon and another one, who was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment, died there at night.
Two of the injured are now receiving treatment at the DMCH while four others at CMCH, the physician said.
Since the respiratory tracts of all the injured were burnt, none of them are out of danger, he added.
