Fire at Ctg flat: Injured girl dies 2 days after demise of sister
After the demise of the elder sister on Saturday, the younger sister succumbed to burn injuries at Chattogram Medical College Hospital today.
Eighteen-year-old Samia Khaled succumbed to injuries at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of CMCH around 4:00 pm today and her elder sister Sabrina Khaled (26) died on Saturday, said Dr S Khaled, assistant professor of the unit.
Two sisters --Samia and Sabrina-- received burn injuries in a fire incident at an apartment at Rahattar Pool area under Bakalia Police Station in the port city on Thursday afternoon.
Locals rescued and took them to CMCH.
The health condition of both sisters was critical when they were admitted to CMCH, said Khaled, adding that they both had burn injuries in 50% of their bodies.
"The respiratory tract of both the sisters were burnt," he added.
According to fire service officials, the fire broke on the fourth floor of a five-storey building in the Rahattar Pool area around 12:15 am on Thursday.
They primarily assumed that gas leakage in the kitchen might be the reason behind the fire incident.
There was none in the house except the two sisters as their parents were in their village.
