A fire that broke out at a shoe factory in Nazirabazar area of Old Dhaka this evening is now under control.

The fire broke out at the factory on the first floor of a nine-storey building, beside Taiyaba Hotel, around 5:30pm, said Lima Khanam, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room in Dhaka.

On information, six fire-fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 6:10pm, she told The Daily Star.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
