Fire at Habiganj's Shahjibazar Power Plant under control

The fire at Shahjibazar 330 MW Power Plant in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj is now under control.

Habiganj Rural Power Association General Manager (GM) Motahar Hossain said a transformer of Shahjibazar Power Plant exploded around 9:40am and then, it caught fire.

Mizanur Rahman, chief engineer of the power plant, said that the fire originated around 9:45am.

Six fire fighting units rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control around 11:45am, Habiganj Fire Service officer Shimul Md Rafi told our Moulvibazar correspondent.

Activities at the power plant remain halted till filing of this report, the official said.
