A man and his daughter were killed when a brick-laden truck ran them over on the on Narayanganj-Panchabati road in Narayanganj city today.

The driver was arrested after locals detained him from the spot at the Chashara area around 2:00 pm, reports our local correspondent quoting Fatullah Model Police Station Sub-inspector Zahangir Alam.

The deceased were identified as Altab Hossain (43) and his daughter Beli Akhter (14) of Sonargaon upazila, said the SI.

The accident happened when the victims were going to Sonargaon from Chashara on a rickshaw. They died on the spot, he said.

The bodies were sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsies.

Legal action will be taken in this regard, the SI added.
