Child dead, 3 family members injured in Gulshan road accident

A five-year-old boy died and three of his family members sustained injuries after a truck hit a rickshaw carrying them in Dhaka's Gulshan area early today.

The deceased was identified as Mahfuzur Rahman Rihan, son of Abur Rahim and Shahjadi Akter.

The couple along with their daughter Rahi (6) also sustained injures in the accident that took place in Shahjadpur area around 12:15am, police said. 

The family was heading towards their Badda residence from Notun Bazar area by the rickshaw. The four fell from the rickshaw when the vehicle was taking a U-turn and was hit by a good-laden truck, said the deceased's uncle Nazrul Islam.    

With severe injuries, Rihan was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 1:30am, said Nazrul Islam, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station.

Police seized the truck and detained its driver, he said.

Shahjadi and her daughter took treatment at DMCH while Rahim was admitted to Shahabuddin Medical College Hospital.
