5-year-old dies after falling from building in Dhaka’s Jatrabari

A five-year-old boy died after falling from the rooftop of a building in Dhaka's Uttar Jatrabari area this afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Md Bappi, son of Md Swapan, a pick-up van driver.

Bappi was playing with other children on the rooftop of the two-storey building, with no railings, around 2:00pm. He fell from the rooftop and sustained critical injuries, Swapan said.

Bappi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, he said.

Hailing from Bhola, the victim was second among three siblings.

Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said the body was sent to hospital morgue for autopsy.
