4 killed as train hits auto-rickshaw at unauthorised level crossing

At least four persons were killed as a train hit an auto-rickshaw at a level crossing in Laksam upazila in Cumilla this morning.

The incident took place in Tughuria area around 10:30am, Assistant Sub-inspector Abdul Alim of Laksam Railway Police Station told The Daily Star.

Jasim Uddin Khandaker, officer-in-charge of Laksam Railway Police Station, said there was no gateman at the level crossing as it is unauthorised.

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Shahidul Islam, 40 and passengers—Maksudur Rahman, 65, Mohammad Habib, 22 and Moiful Begum, 35, reports our Culilla correspondent quoting police.
