6 killed in Narsingdi road accident

Six people, including a child, were killed and at least four others were injured in a collision between a covered van and a human hauler in Narsingdi's Sadar upazila this afternoon.
Five of the deceased were identified as Jharna Begum (30), her son Al Amin (10), Hafizul Islam (46), Chand Mia (55) and human hauler driver Aman Mia (23).
The identity of one other male victim could not be known immediately, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent.
Quoting witnesses, Yusuf Mia, in-charge of Panchdona Police Outpost, said a covered van collided head-on with a human hauler (locally known as Leguna) in Bhatpara Takshal intersection on Panchdona-Ghorashal-Tongi regional highway around 2:30pm, leaving Chand Mia and Al Amin dead on the spot and eight others injured.
The injured were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital. Of them, Jharna Begum succumbed to her injuries on the way while the other three died while undergoing treatment, the police official said.
The covered van was seized and kept at the police outpost, he added.
