3 killed in 2 road accidents in Cox’s Bazar

Two people were killed after a covered van hit their motorcycle in Cox's Bazar Sadar upazila this morning, while a man was killed in a separate accident in the district last night.

The incident took place in Chander Ghona area on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway around 7:00am, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Eidgaon Police Station Golam Kabir.

The deceased were identified as Md Azim, 30, and Delwar Hossain Sayedee, 28, of Chander Ghona area.

OC Golam Kabir said that after being informed of the accident, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies. The covered van was seized but the driver and helper managed to flee, the police official said.

In another accident, a day labourer was killed and three others were injured when a truck overturned in Shilkhali area on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road around 8:00pm yesterday, said Inspector of Baharchara Police Investigation Center Mashiur Rahman.

The deceased was identified as Hasan Ahmed, 35, of Noakhalia para of Teknaf Sadar union, reports out Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Quoting locals, Mashiur Rahman said the truck lost control and turned upside down after falling into a ditch, leaving four people injured.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where one of them died. The body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.

Three injured received first aid.

The driver of the truck fled immediately after the incident.
