3 killed, 2 hurt in road crashes
Three people were killed and two injured in road accidents in two districts yesterday, according to reports from our correspondents.
In Pabna, a man and his sister-in-law were killed as a bus hit their motorbike in Santhia upazila in the morning.
The accident occurred around 7:00am on Bogura-Nagarbari highway at Vatipara village, when the two were going to their workplaces in Gazipur, said police.
Forman Ali (30) and his sister-in-law Mahbuba Khatun (20) from the district's Bera upazila, who used to work at a garment factory in Gazipur, died on the spot, said Santhia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asif Mohammad Siddikul Islam.
The bus could not be identified. Police rushed the spot and recovered the bodies from the highway.
In Natore, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver was killed and two of its passengers were injured in a head-on collision between the vehicle and a truck in Singra upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam (40) from Singra.
Inspector ANM Masud, in-charge of Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, said Rafiqul died instantly. Locals rescued the injured, Ashikur Rahman and Bulbul Hossain, and took them to Singra Upazila Health Complex, from where Ashikur was transferred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
