2 killed, 3 hurt in Patuakhali road crashes

Two youths have been killed in separate road accidents in Patuakhali, while three others have been injured.

Naeem Sikder, 16,  died on the spot when a truck overturned and fell on him  while he was walking in Badarpur market  area of  Patuakhali Sadar upazila around 8:00pm on Tuesday night, said police.

Another person, Haseeb Sikder, 16, was injured and was under treatment at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, they added.

Naeem passed his SSC this year from Moukaran Secondary School. He was buried in a local graveyard yesterday morning.

Meanwhile, Md Zahid Hossain, 19, died on the spot after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a roadside tree at Barabaishdia union of Rangabali upazila on Tuesday evening.

Two pillion passengers of the bike -- Maruf Dewan, 18, and Ripon Pada, 12 -- were seriously injured. They were undergoing treatment at a local medical facility.

Two separate cases of wrongful deaths have been filed with Patuakhali and Rangabali police stations.
