2 injured as wall collapses at DU’s Jasimuddin Hall

Two persons were injured after a wall collapsed inside the Kabi Jasimuddin Hall canteen of Dhaka University today.

The incident happened when students were having lunch at the canteen, reports our DU correspondent quoting university authorities.

A five-member probe committee headed by DU Prof Mohammad Jahirul Islam has been formed to investigate the incident, Hall Provost Prof Mohammad Abdur Rashid told The Daily Star.

"We have visited the spot already and formed an inquiry committee to find out the reason. Two outsiders were injured. Our students have remained safe," he said.

According to eyewitnesses and Canteen Manager Didarul Alom -- around 2:30 pm part of a wall suddenly collapsed inside the canteen while students were having lunch.

"The injured persons who came to eat from outside were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment," said Didarul.
