2 dead, 15 injured as bus hits roadside tree in Bagerhat

Two passengers were dead and 15 others injured as a bus lost control and hit a roadside tree at Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat today (July 26, 2022).

The deceased are Moni Mallik (24), son of Siddique Mallick of Sapleja village of Mathbaria upazila of Pirojpur district and Anwara Begum (40) of Matiranga area of Khagrachhari district.

The accident took place at 10:45am this morning on Khulna-Mawa highway at Palerhat area in the upazila, reports our Bagerhat correspondent quoting Md Alimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Model Police Station.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to the local health complex, police said.

The bus involved in the accident was belonging to Meghna Classic Paribahan. It left Dhaka in the morning for Sharankhola in Bagerhat.

OC Alimuzzaman said that two people were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus lost control of the wheel and hit a roadside tree.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Fakirhat Police Station complex, the OC said, adding that they informed family members of the deceased.
