12-yr-old dies after falling off rooftop while playing cricket in Lalbagh

A 12-year-old boy died after falling off the rooftop of a five-storey building while playing cricket in the capital's Lalbagh area yesterday.

Tusar Ahmed Kayes, a sixth-grader, was the only child of private jobholder Md Delwar Hossain and homemaker Happy Akter.

Doctors declared him dead after he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around 5:00pm, said Inspector Md Bachhu Miah, in-charge of the hospital's police outpost.

Tusar fell off the ground while jumping onto another roof from their rooftop to bring back the ball in the afternoon in the Boro Bhat Masjid area, leaving him critically injured, said the inspector quoting one Md Liton, who brought the victim to the hospital.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy, said the police official.
