Bangladesh end with a loss
The Bangladesh women's cricket team completed their maiden tour of India with a 58-run defeat in the third and final one-day international against the India women's cricket team at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad yesterday.
Bangladesh lost all three T20 Internationals and ODIs during their visit to the neighbouring country.
Bangladesh's poor batting caused the heavy defeat in the third and final match of the tour as they were bundled out for 96 runs in reply to the hosts' 154.
But the Bangladesh bowlers did an excellent job after India chose to bat first. Panna Ghosh struck twice in as many overs to initiate a fightback after the opening pair added 37 runs. The home side lost wickets at regular intervals as Rumana Ahmed claimed four wickets conceding only 20 runs.
Smriti Mandhana (23), Harmanpreet Kaur (29) and Swagatika Rath (30) made it possible for India to put up a total of 154 before they were dismissed in the 49th over.
In reply, Bangladesh fell in trouble losing three wickets for 36 runs and they failed to recover from the early hiccup and captain Salma Khatun scored team highest 22 runs.
Poonam Yadav was the most successful bowler with 3 for 15 and she was well supported by Ekta Bisht's 2 for 19 and Rath's 2 for 15.
