Baira suspends manpower export indefinitely
Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) will suspend all its manpower export activities for an indefinite period from Monday.
The decision was taken Sunday in protest against a government initiative to send workers abroad through government-to-government system.
Md Shahjalal Mazumder, president of Baira, informed reporters about the decision of the Baira Working Executive Committee at a press conference at its Eskaton Garden office.
The Baira president blamed the government for making the private sector 'inactive' through sending people abroad through the system.
"We will start our activities again when the government expresses its desire to work with the private sector," Shahjalal said.
Asked about the higher migration cost in private sector, Baira Secretary General Ali Haider said the government should provide a structure to the international recruiting agencies so that it can export manpower in low cost.
