Slit-throat body of trader found at Ctg hotel
Police recovered the slit-throat body of a sand trader from a hotel in Chittagong city early yesterday.
The victim is Md Mainuddin, 35, of Feni's Chhagalnaiya upazila, said police.
Police detained Rokhsana Aktar Popi, former wife of Mainuddin, from the hotel for interrogation.
The body was recovered from a room on the second floor of Lake City hotel in Foy's Lake area under Khulshi Police Station, said Assistant Commissioner (Khulshi zone) Sohel Rana.
Mainuddin along with Rokhsana checked in the hotel on Wednesday, introducing themselves as husband and wife, the police official told The Daily Star.
He said police suspected that Rokhsana was involved in the murder.
“Rokhsana is a medical student who studies in China. The couple got separated after Rokhsana had gone to China for study,” said AC Sohel, adding that Rokhsana arrived in Chittagong on Wednesday and Mainuddin took her to the hotel.
Sohel said during primary interrogation, Rokhsana said Mainuddin wanted to remarry her.
Police sent the body to Chittagong Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
