IU suspends student for 'Facebook post'

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia yesterday temporarily suspended a female student over an alleged Facebook post demeaning Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL).

A body has been formed to probe the incident, reports our Kushtia correspondent, quoting authorities.

In an official letter, IU authorities said Moushumi Akter, a fourth year student of Finance and Banking department, made a derogatory comment about BCL men using her Facebook page “Mousumi Mou” on Saturday.

Following this, BCL IU unit demanded her expulsion.

IU Acting Registrar Abdul Latif said they found that she had made the post during primary investigation. He said a show cause notice was served to Moushumi demanding her explanation within seven days.
