Boy going to school crushed by power tiller
A nine-year-old schoolboy was killed and his father and classmate were injured when a sand-laden power-tiller trailer hit their bicycle in Dinajpur's Chirirbandar yesterday.
Road communications between Dinajpur and many other districts remained halted for two hours from 9:30am as schoolchildren and locals blocked Dinajpur-Dhaka road at Ambari, protesting the incident.
The deceased is Antar Chandra Roy, son of Kumod Chandra Roy of South Bishwanathpur village under Chirirbandar upazila. He was a class-II student at Marigold Kindergarten School at Ambari.
Police said riding his father's bicycle, Antar and his classmate Aditya Chandra Roy, 9, were going to school. The speedy power-tiller trailer hit the bicycle from behind when they reached in Ambari area around 9:00am. Antar died on the spot and his father and Aditya were wounded.
The injured were rushed to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
Police removed the protesters from the road around 11:30am and restored the road communications, said Harisul Islam, officer-in-charge of Chirirbandar Police station.
