Three killed in firing at Delhi court
Three people were killed in a shootout at a court in north Delhi's Rohini locality today, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal said assailants belonging to a rival gang were in the uniform of advocate when they entered the courtroom and fired at gangster Jitendra Gogi who was wanted in several criminal cases, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
As the shootout took place, police and lawyers were seen scrambling in the court building, the correspondent reports.
Gunmen masquerading as lawyers barged into a court hearing and shot Gogi thrice. Gogi was arrested in March last year and lodged in high-security Tihar prison in west Delhi.
The special police personnel escorting Gogi then fired back, killing both assailants on the spot.
"Two men from a rival gang opened fire at Jitendra Gogi inside the court. When police retaliated, the two assailants were killed," Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said.
