Nothing for BJP to hide, says Amit Shah over Adani allegations

Indian Home Minister Amit Shah has said it would not be appropriate for him to comment on the opposition's allegations against the BJP-led government over the Adani-Hindenburg issue, and that there is "nothing for the BJP to hide or be afraid of".

"The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the matter. As a minister, if the Supreme Court is seized of the matter, it is not right for me to comment. But in this, there is nothing for the BJP to hide and nothing to be afraid of," Shah told ANI.

The opposition has been targeting the government over the Adani-Hindenburg report alleging that the party has been "favouring" the Adani Group.

On February 7, while speaking in Lok Sabha, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had said the relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and billionaire Adani group chairman Gautam Adani began many years ago when the former was chief minister of Gujarat.

American short seller and investment research firm Hindenburg Research had on January 24 published a report on Adani Group accusing the group of "brazen stock manipulation and accounting fraud scheme over the course of decades." The Adani group has denied the charges.

Indian stock market regulator SEBI has said it is probing the allegations against the Adani group.
