Emma Watson takes over for Emma Stone in 'Little Women'

Emma Watson and Emma Stone

Greta Gerwig's highly-anticipated Little Women adaptation just underwent a casting shakeup. Emma Watson is reportedly joining the cast, taking on a role originally intended for Emma Stone, reports say.

Stone was unable to commit to Little Women because of promotional obligations for her upcoming film, award season contender The Favourite.

Tragically, there is no word on which of the March sisters Watson will be playing. She will, however, be joining a thoroughly star-studded cast, which is reportedly set to include Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Saoirse Ronan, Timothee Chalamet, and Florence Pugh.   Louisa May Alcott's 1868 novel, Little Women, has been adapted for film and TV numerous times, with the most recent big-screen version coming in 1994 with Winona Ryder, Kirsten Dunst, Claire Danes, and Susan Sarandon.
