Shyam Benegal To Direct Bangabandhu Biopic

Talks for making a biopic based on our Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were in progress for some time now. According to a recent report by UNB, renowned Indian director Shyam Benegal has been handpicked to direct the much anticipated feature film.

State Minister of Information Tarana Halim said that the reason behind choosing Shyam Benegal was based on his praise-worthy work depicting the life of Subhas Chandra Bose, the Indian independence leader, in yet another biopic. She also added that the joint venture between the neighboring nations will be supervised by a three-member expert panel exclusively from Bangladesh. However, the script for the film is yet to be approved by the descendants of Bangabandhu. The state minister also added that the release date for the film is to be on par with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth anniversary, presumably by 2021.
