Arrest of Khulna journo attackers demanded
Speakers at a human chain yesterday demanded arrests and exemplary punishment of the criminals who tried to kill Gauranga Nandi, bureau chief of the Bangla daily Kaler Kantho in Khulna and a contributor of the BBC, nine days ago.
They said the attempted murder was planned and requested the law enforcers and the authorities concerned to find the criminals and the mastermind.
Unknown assailants tried to kill Nandi in his office on March 31 by poisoning. He regained consciousness after four days, on April 4, in a Khulna city hospital.
The human chain held in front of Khulna Press Club was addressed by leaders of different socio-cultural organisations and journalists.
Meanwhile, Khulna Press Club and the Khulna Union of Journalists issued separate statements to condemn the attack.
