Alonso set to miss Confed Cup

Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso looks set to be ruled out of Spain manager Vicente Del Bosque's final 23-man squad for the Confederations Cup, according to various Spanish media sources on Sunday.
The 31-year-old has been hampered by a groin injury in recent weeks and has not been given the all-clear by Madrid's doctors to take part in the competition which starts on June 15.
Alonso was included in Del Bosque's preliminary 26-man squad announced earlier this week, but he is expected to be one of the three players cut from that list when the final squad is named later on Sunday.
