AL ready for talks: Hanif
The Awami League is still ready to hold a dialogue with the opposition BNP to resolve the country's ongoing political crisis, the party Joint General Secretary, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, said Saturday.
Pointing to the BNP, Hanif said the party may come to parliament if it has any proposal, reported Bangla daily the Prothom Alo.
"We are ready to talk to end the political impasse. If you (BNP) have any proposal, come and table it in the parliament," Hanif said at a discussion.
Swechchhasebak League organised the programme to mark the 67th birth anniversary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her political office in Dhanmondi 32 in the capital.
"The solution to the impasse will only come through talks," Hanif said.
Reiterating that the 10th general election would be held in the line with constitution, Hanif, a special assistant to Hasina, said "The next general election cannot be foiled by unnecessary threatening."
