AL leader, brother stabbed

A local Awami League leader and his brother were seriously injured as criminals stabbed them in Kalupur Bridge area of Shibganj upazila on Tuesday night.
They are Abdur Razib, 35, general secretary of ward no 1 of Durlovpur union unit AL and teacher of Shibganj Women College and his twin brother Abdur Rakib, 35.
Police and locals said, a gang waylaid the siblings when they were returning to their village home at Kalupur from Shibganj Bazar by a motorbike at 8:30pm.
At one stage, the criminals exploded some bombs and stabbed the duo indiscriminately, leaving them seriously injured.
They were rushed to the upazila health complex and then shifted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated, said sub-inspector Shahidul Islam of Shibganj police station.
Police were raiding different areas to arrest the attackers, said Mizanur Rahman, officer in-charge of the PS.
Moinuddin Mondal, general secretary of district unit AL, alleged that the two were injured by Jamaat-Shibir men.
