Agrani Bank questions 'leaked'
The question paper of the recruitment test for the post of senior officer of Agrani Bank was allegedly leaked in different areas of the capital yesterday, particularly in Dhaka University's residential halls.
A member of the recruitment committee, Prof Hasibur Rashid of Dhaka University, said, “We received a paper around 3:45pm yesterday containing 50 answers, many of which matched the answers of the actual test's multiple-choice questions.”
He refused to elaborate on how or from whom the committee “received” the paper.
The one-hour test, beginning at 4:00pm, had 75 questions. A total of 42,000 candidates took the test in 15 centres in the capital.
Highly placed sources said the committee seized some candidates' cellphones around 4:03pm from exam centres in Old Dhaka containing the 75 answers.
Many candidates, also students of Dhaka University, told this correspondent that they bought copies of the 75 questions and their answers, in handwritten format, for around Tk 100 two to three hours before the test.
Those were offered for sale in some hall rooms and photocopy shops, they said.
Meanwhile, many candidates also accused some activists of the ruling party's student organisation of providing answers through cellphones.
Prof Hasibur said the recruitment committee had already started grading the answer sheets as no decision over cancelling the exam was taken till yesterday. “We receive allegations of question paper leakage before every recruitment exam,” he added.
Agrani Bank Chairman Prof Khondoker Bazlul Hoque could not be reached for comment on his cellphone.
